Only a few modern materials possess the warmth and beauty of natural wood. In this wooden house in the USA, a stone plinth grounds the house, while the natural wood construction enables the home to blend in perfectly with the lush surroundings. The house has a long, low profile and sits unobtrusively amongst the surrounding landscape. The front of the house is accessed via a driveway that leads to the L-shaped garage that extends out from the main rectangular footprint. Wooden steps lead up to a narrow porch that wraps around the front and signifies the entrance to the house. Two dormer windows allow natural light into the upper-level bedroom. A cozy rear porch is cut into the rectangular profile of the house, creating a relaxing seating area overlooking the verdant landscape. A stone-clad rectangular chimney, breaks the roof profile, adding a vertical element to balance out the horizontal profile of the house.
