House Remodeling and ExtensionLocation: Sweden

House remodeling can make or break a home, particularly when the extension design style is a clear variation from the original home. In this Swedish home, the designers chose a distinctly modern vibe for the extension of a traditional sloped-roof, cottage style home. In keeping with the simple beauty of the minimalist Swedish cottage, the designers gave the owners two options for the extension. One option uses natural grey concrete for the double-story extension, while the second option proposes natural wood, albeit in a more modern style. In both options, seamless continuity with the original home is maintained by using similar features such as wood framed openings. Although the extension is modern, the simple beauty of the minimalist cottage design is carried forward in both options, resulting in a remodel that is both distinct, yet homogenous with its surroundings.
